Divine Currency in the Time of Scarcity

Divine Currency in the Time of Scarcity

"The only currency that God gave to believers to purchase what others are struggling to get is GRACE-The only acceptable currency everywhere in this present age."

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; (Titus 2:11-12)

We live in the world of scarcity. In a world that to live right is very expensive. (2 Tim 3:1) Righteous men are scarce, holiness preachers are few, and living above sin and struggles has become archaic. The currency of the world which is the human effort is seriously failing. Many want to live right but they do not know how, instead of turning to God they are using the currency of the world which is not a legal tender at this point in time.

I. What is Grace?

Grace has been defined as unmerited favour. Some said it is God’s gift at Christ expense. However, I see grace as :

  • 1. A divine enablement you receive to do what you cannot do by your strength.
  • 2. A pedestal on which you stand to reach what you are too short to reach. Zacchaeus. in Lk 19:1-5.
  • 3. A vehicle that transports a man from the level of human struggle to the realm of getting things done.
  • effortlessly. It is what begins where all human efforts have finished. (Lk 5:1-7).
  • 4. The ability to do work, not energy according to science. (Phil 4:13).
  • 5. A divine currency in the hand of a believer in the time of scarcity.

II. What Grace brings (… that bringeth salvation…)

The Greek word for salvation in this verse is soterion, it is a noun that means defender or defense. This is a supernatural protection we receive when we came to Jesus. It is an everlasting shield. It is a strong tower. (Prov. 18:10). Whenever grace enters a life it comes with a twin brother which is salvation.

III. The Scope of Grace.

It is universal. (…has appeared to all men….) The currency is not limited to some people, it is available to all, it is not what anybody can hoard, it not at the disposal of some set of people, it for all. It is available in abundance. (John 1:14). It has been made available in Christ. “And of his fullness have all we received, and grace for grace…” (John1:16).

IV. The work of Grace

Grace is a teacher (…teaching us to say “NO”…) NIV. Many claim that they have been saved but they still find it difficult to leave sin. There is another level grace we need. …and grace for grace…” (John1:16).It is the grace to say no. This is the currency you need where righteousness is very scarce to purchase.

V.Where do we need grace? (…in this present world)

Some believe that they will need grace to live in heaven because there will be no sin and unrighteousness there. This is not so. It is in this crooked and perverse world we need it in order to make it to heaven. Instead of given up on yourself and surrender to the devil, go to Jesus for grace.

VI. How do we receive This Grace? (Heb 4:15-16)

…but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin because he was full of grace.

Jesus is the reservoir of Grace. All what we need do is to go to him on the throne of grace. The Grace of God is available for us if we come boldly to obtain it. Like our Lord, we can overcome all temptations if we obtain a regular grace at his throne. Have you been struggling with your life? Do you find it difficult to live right? I invite you to follow me as we go to the throne of Grace. Let us go and obtain that universal currency that we can spend in this time of scarcity.

Grace to you all.
